On the first December weekend 2011 Wolfgang and Lightspeed Darjeeling acchieved a great trialling success, coming third in the Swiss Open Trial in Haselhoff, where International competitors competed in 6 Open trial runs on  three different fields.
First and second was Serge van der Zweep with Gary and Jim, and third was Wolfgang with Darla, ex equo with Luca Fini and Dan! Wow!!

Lightspeed Fire Flyte and Lady Julie are running in Agility 3 now. Flyte has also passed two Obedience 3 competions with very good results: here are some videos:

And here are some pictures of the Lightspeed family and the grazing “family sheep” “Graue Heidschnucken”.

above: Flyte, eying the grazing sheep, below: Julie in full winter coat, looking lovely, I think! :) Her daughter Guin is as smooth-coated as an officially rough-coated Border Collie can possibly be! ;)
Above: Grandmother Zony (Canyonland Arizona Dream), at 10 years still full of energy, working drive and stamina!! She would hate to be left out from work! She thinks, she is absolutely indispensible!!! :)
Below Flyte and his mother Julie and sister Guin.
Guin’s brother Glenby Julie and Bobby Dalziel’s Supreme Champion and Dual Scottish National Champion Joe is a fully trained open class sheepdog and also available at stud now. He is running in trial class 3 and is full of energy, humour and fun!

The J-puppies have moved out!

At the beginning of the new year, 2012 the J-puppies by Guin and Blackie of Conquest have all moved out! We wish them all very happy and eventful lives!!! They were such a nice and cute bunch of very well behaved and cuddly pups, and a real pleasure to bring up!

This was little JInx’s Christmas foto shooting:

And all the puppies in their Christmas video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=U7NsEytAOQo

The puppies’ favorite toy in the world were: cardboard boxes!! They loved playing “king of the hill”, occupying a box and trying to defend it from the others that were trying to pull the box-king down from it’s box! They even slept on or in the boxes!

Of course all the vet-checks went well, and all J’s are free from hereditary eye diseases.

Exited new owners, that still have to wait to take home their puppy!! :)

And a little Christmas clip:

Five weeks, and already ferocious little wolves! :)

Julie first, Darla second in big international open trial

On the 4th and 5th June 2011 Fritz Maierhofer, ex-club-president of the ASDS and organizer of the first (1998) Austrian Continental Championship organized a big international trial in Upper Austria in honour of his 70th birthday.
Big because we had a never-heard-of starter-field of 38 open class dogs, international because Fritz had invited most of Germany’s top handlers and some of the Swiss top handlers, to make for a very high standard of competition!
Fritz is a jewellery artist and had hand-crafted lovely prices for the best three on Saturday and Sunday respectively!

I am very proud to tell you that Julie’s daughter Darla (by my old Celtic) came second on Saturday (in-between Claus Börner’s two top dogs Snip and Del on first and third place) and Julie won the Sunday trial, being placed before the Swiss top handler Ruedi Roth’s on second place and Anita Hermes on third place.
To give you an idea how prominent the other handlers were: Ruedi has been a Continental starter for Switzerland 18 times, coming second 1987, second again with another dog in 1990 and third in 2006.
Claus Börner was 3rd in the Continental Championship once in 1994 and second in 1995, and has all his dogs trained to a wonderful standard!
Anita Hermes has been a German Continental team member 13 times and finalist 4 times.
All of the mentioned people are travelling Europe as judges and clinic trainers.

It was a realy lovely trial, and Julie had the best run of her life, with points in the 90-es I would say (of 100, no single). Sadly the score list was lost (!!!!!) by judge Simon Mosse, but maybe someone can tell me the exact points anyway. We tried to film, but of course, the camera gave up after the outrun and fetch!!!!! I would have loved to have that run to watch again!!!

So: all the time we have lots of exciting activities for our Lightspeed Border Collies!

Lightspeed Fire Flyte’s puppies by Avita

This is the beautiful landscape, where the Vulcano Country Border Collies, three happy horses and a little herd of goats live in the very south of Austria! Lightspeed Fire Flyte’s 8 lovely puppies from the J-litter from Vulcano Country (born in the middle of March 2011) have moved out! One very energetic boy that looks a lot like Flyte has come back to the breeders and is looking for a  new home, as the older dog in his supposed new home was not willing to accept him!

Mummy Avita and Granny Fly busisly at work teaching the puppies good manners!

This little girl is showing some herding style already! ;)
